Since 2003, the small staff at TheCup.us (formerly USOpenCup.com) has been the Internet’s only source for full coverage of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. They have put in countless hours of their own time in order to give this great tournament the coverage it deserves, from early state qualifying, all the way to the championship game. Much of that time has gone into historical research, as they try to piece together the history of the tournament that dates back to 1914.
In September of 2009, they were forced to give up our USOpenCup.com URL, and start a new website (Read all about the situation here). From the day USOpenCup.com was started in 2003, until it was shut down in the Fall of 2009, they were unable to receive any compensation (either via donations or advertisements) for their work due to legal issues with the US Soccer Federation. Now, with TheCup.us in place, they are now allowed to place advertisements on the site (if you are interested in advertising on TheCup.us, feel free to contact them) and they can now accept donations.
